"As an artist I have long been obsessed with the idea of collections and "cabinets of curiosities." I find the need to collect both captivating and puzzling. I myself have been a collector of many things over the years and have gained much joy and comfort from the act of collecting as well as the displaying of my special items.
Recently I have been intrigued by the phenomena of butterfly hunts and collections, which hit their height of popularity during the Victorian Age. As butterfly populations have shrunk, the act of collecting and displaying these beautiful creatures has become understandably discouraged. Through this series I continue my use of magazine paper to make these more environmentally friendly butterfly and moth collections for all to enjoy without guilt."
